Could you email me? As the comments box doesn’t have nice formatting and some of what I’d say isn’t strictly public knowledge but does effect what you’ve written above.

Certainly. What additional advise do you think Ipswich cyclists should have?

Would you be up for updating this page? As it’s gotten a bit out of date and there’s some more actions people can take to avoid having their pride and joy stolen.

Thanks, John

Dear sir,
sorry i didnt catch your name when we spoke on the phone,Here are the details of my sons bike that was stolen today.
Saracen Tufftrax comp, size 22, Green and white ( the saddle was also pattened) frame number MA9061397
the only flaw was a tiny chip in the paintwork on the crossbar, which was there when we bought it.
It was locked at the bike stands outside the red bus station (opposite the club that used to be called pals and where the taxis stop)
It went missing between 10 and 11.30 am (my son will be able to confirm a time better when he comes home) he was only gone from the bike for 10-15 minutes.
It was locked with a shackle lock and a combination lock and both locks went missing with the bike.
If anyone comes accross this bike I would be very gratefull if the police could be called.
Thankyou
Diane Collett

I live at 35 Felixstowe Road and obviously I have informed the police.

The bikes were:

Cube AMS Pro 125 XT full suspension mountain bike. Only 50 or so of this bike ever produced globally – Very Distinctive Bronze/Gold frame and identically coloured features. Full Mavic wheel set with Schwalbe – Nobby Nic Tubeless tyres, Shimano XT set throughout. Garmin Edge 705 mounting bracket fitted (unit was not stolen), non standard lightweight bar ends fitted, shimano clipless pedals, Fizik bronze coloured seat. Notably one of the lugs tack welded in to the diagonal of the frame had broken away and the hole sealed with black electrical tape. Large frame number stamped under the crank case: A7J24161

Claud Butler framed hard tail also in very distinctive Green with Rock shock black front forks, lower end shimano gears (can’t recall which), black wheels fitted with New Schwalbe tubed tyres (can’t recall if the tyres were Noby’s, Rocket Rons or racing ralfs). Edge 705 mounting bracket and front & rear light brackets fitted, very long aluminium seat tube and seat had a tear on one side. Disk brake on the front, V brake at the rear and the seat had a small tool bag clip fitted under it at the rear. This bike was also fitted (and sadly also stolen) with a Very Expensive D Lock which I can’t recall the make or model of.

Please Please folks, forward this in any suitable direction and inform me on 07980 20 40 54 if anyone has any information. I’m completely gutted that both my bikes, one of which (the Cube AMS) was my Pride and Joy, have been stolen. I know this is far too common a post for anyone’s comfort but I felt one of the first things I should do was to post this

Thanks for reading my sad post

I’ve checked out your website http://www.tagyourbike.com/ and I am really pleased to see tags for as cheap as £4.50.

At that price, everyone can afford a bit of security.

I would be interested to understand the take-up of RFID readers in bike shops. Presumably most police forces are already equipped with them. I may do a ring-around of Ipswich bike shops to see who has the gear.

Thanks
Ajax

If a bike is registered but not reported stolen and is found and checked by the police then it will automatically come up with the registered owner. The register is FREE and you can register any of your property on it and include photos.
We are involved with 18 Police Forces with cycle theft crime reduction initiatives which can be seen on our website. We supply the RFID tags to Police Forces and give any assistance they may need.

Regards
